2012 Standard tours run from Saturday 17th March 2012 to Saturday 3rd November 2012 - every day of the week except Tuesdays. Private Tours are available all year round by arrangement.
All our tours are in English as standard but Private Tours are available in numerous other languages, including Mandarin, upon request.
(2 ½ hours – starting at 10:30am - approximately 4miles)
This is a great tour if you’re really pushed for time. It covers the majority of the sights and follows a squiggly line taking in Midsummer Common, Stourbridge Common, Eights Rowing, College Boat Houses, Jesus Green, Round Church (one of only four in the UK), Front of St. Johns College, Trinity Great Gate, Trinity Great Court (subject to side door being open), The Wren Library (subject to time), Garrett Hostel Bridge, Cambridge University Real Tennis Club, The Backs, The Best Spot to take that iconic photo of Kings College Chapel, Senate House, Kings Parade, Corpus Christi Clock, The Eagle Pub, St. Benets Church and Mill Pond.
We start under the lamp in the middle of Parker’s Piece just to the south of the City Centre at 10:30am. If you’re running a bit late don’t worry ... come straight to our office at No.6 Elm Street where we will be fitting bikes.
The tour will finish at the Mill Pond at around 1pm before returning the bikes. (When you watch the main tour group go off for the afternoon you’ll be wishing you were with them!)
Price: £20 per person inclusive of bike hire (Discounts Available to Students, Families and
Groups - email for details)
(2 ½ hours – starting at 1:30pm - approximately 4miles)
Perhaps you’ve done the city and want to get out and about for the afternoon ... well this is just the thing. Meeting under the lamp in the middle of Parker’s Piece to the south of the City Centre at 1:30pm we walk over to the office to pick up our bikes and get cracking.
We head out of the city through the fens towards the village of Grantchester to enjoy the river, The Orchard Tea Gardens, The Old Vicarage (previously the home of the poet Rupert Brooke and now the home of the author Jeffrey Archer). Then we sit down for either a cream tea or a pint in a very local British Pub, where we play the oldest recorded pub game called ‘ringing the bull’ (your drink could be free if you manage to beat the tour guide at this game). You never know you might be sitting next to a Nobel Prize winner as Grantchester has the highest concentration of them in the world. There’s a very entertaining local chap in the pub called Peter who takes particular delight in meeting people from all over the world.
If you’re
daring enough you could bring your swimwear and cool off in the river Cam.
There’s a free Rupert Brooke museum we pop into before we head back into the city, finishing at about 4pm.
Price: £20 per person inclusive of bike hire (Discounts available to students, families and groups - just email for details).
(5 ½ hours – starting
at 10:30am - approx.
8 miles ... but at a leisurely pace)
This tour combines both the City and Grantchester Tours as detailed above; however we also stop for lunch by the river as a group.
Once you’ve done this tour you’ve really seen Cambridge!
Price: £33 per person inclusive of bike hire (Discounts available to students, families and groups - just email for details)
(Only available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - 2 hours - starting at 7pm from The Free Press Pub www.freepresspub.com - approximately 3 miles)
This is a great way to get out of the city and find some hidden gems that would be virtually impossible to get to by any other means other than bike as this tour is almost entirely off-road and on bike paths. This tour includes food and a drink in each of the 3 pubs we visit.
We start from the front bar of The Free Press Pub at 7pm with some complimentary sandwiches and British Platter. We then pick up some bikes and head east following the river out to Fen Ditton and a pub called The Plough, which is traditionally the best spot on the river to watch the Bumps Rowing Races. After a quick half there’s a bit more off road cycling to the next pub called The Green Dragon, which is stooped in history and even has a bridge named after it.

After your second drink you’ll be pleased to know it’s a straight path through a field of cows to the next pub The Fort St. George, which is home to a rather gruesome tail. After your third drink it’s a very short ride back to dump the bikes (usually at about 9:30pm) when it’s traditional to continue drinking as a group in some of the pubs nearby such as The Free Press and The Elm Tree.
Don’t forget to watch out for the low beams in some of these old pubs.
Price: £25 per person inclusive of sandwiches, British platter, 3x half pints of ale or soft drinks, bike hire, helmets and tour guide (Discounts available to students, families and groups - just email for details).
(5 hours - starting at 10:30am)
We have designed a terrific day out that we feel encompasses all the best things you can do in Cambridge within a day.
This great experience starts with a City Bike Tour as above so you get a great overall picture of Cambridge. Then we put on a traditional English pub lunch at The Free Press www.freepresspub.com which includes a choice of delicious main meals and a drink.
After lunch we make our way down to the river for a 45min shared punting tour along The Backs provided by our recommended punting company finishing at approximately 3:30pm.
Price: £45 per person inclusive of bike hire, helmets, tour guide, map, lunch with a drink and shared punting experience (Discounts available to students, families and groups - just email for details).
*if you’d prefer a private punting tour please contact us for a quote.
Arranged by appointment
We have designed a tour specifically for a group on Electric Bikes. We can do anything we as a group want to do but the suggested tour includes going out east to check out the river and boathouses, through the city and out to Grantchester.
These tours tend to last 2.5hrs but we can be flexible depending on what the group is looking for. Ask for details.
Price: by arrangement
If you are a group, corporate organisation wanting a networking or team building event, hen party or even just a couple wanting something more exclusive we are able to tailor make a bespoke tour just for you.
Naturally we can take you on one of our standard tours exclusively just for yourselves or create something totally different all at a time that suits your busy schedule. Some popular tours we’ve designed in the past include The American Cemetery (home of nearly 4,000 Italian marble headstones for the missing of WWII), River Pubs, Coton Orchard, Madingley, Newmarket, Ely, Anglesey Abbey and even just some of our beautiful surrounding villages.
We often arrange City Tours at 4:30pm for those who can’t make the set time of 10:30am. Please email to confirm your interest.
We have also been known to arrange Bike, Punt and Walking Tour packages so just ask for details if this is of interest.
Private Tours are also available in other languages, including Mandarin, upon request.
